Day 426, T+57 (July 30, 2023)

8.25 miles (total: 2,486.88)

Yesterday, M&G and I went whitewater rafting. It has absolutely nothing to do with running, except for complete immersion into the nature and its beauty. It was in Northern Cascades - absolutely stunning and absolutely cold. Nevertheless, the beauty of the river was poetic. Someone in the raft asked the 3 of us if it was a special occasion. We said "no" - just the 3 of us hanging out together. I enjoy this time together with 2 of my kids, sometimes they feel more like my pals (depending on the conversation), but most of the time it's just a lot of laughter. That pure joy, and laughing because it simply feels good.

Coming back to running... yesterday's trip energized me, both physically and spiritually. It was just a well-lived day. And today's run was a pure enjoyment. I've ran exactly what I wanted to run and it felt goood. Today I tried something I've never tried before. I just ran with my eyes closed. It's a phenomenal sensation - the most beautiful music, the most beautiful movement and no visual distraction. Your body and mind are simply in awe. Obviously with twists and turns I had to periodically open my eyes to avoid running into anyone or a tree, but those brief moments of running, eyes wide shut and music were blissful. I will try it again.

As was the run, it will be an amazing day. I wish the same to everyone too.
