6.22 miles (total: 2,168.58)
Today I ran from home to M's soccer practice - a hilly run in the afternoon. The weather was gorgeous! and I got to see the early Halloween decorations (already!) in the neighborhoods.
I've faced the truth while running today - the hills nearly killed me (again not enough running lately). Running makes you more honest. You can't pretend to be faster than you are. You can't pretend that you are better prepared than you are. You cannot pretend to be a runner, you actually have to run. Today's hills were a humbling reminder. You see, once you decide to run or farther than the 10-K (6.2 miles) with the hills, your quest centers much more on tenacity than talent.
My head cleared. I've thought about everything during the run - the good, the bad and the ugly, both nearby and far away, yet still impacting. While running with a heavy heart, yet still with a hopeful spirit.
The finish was worth it - to see both M&G on the field. They had a game and M scored (it was great to see him happy).
