5.89 miles (total: 2,157.32)
I went for a run in the morning. It was a perfect weather - not hot, not cold, just perfect. By the end of the run, it started raining. It's as if the weather were nudging me to run faster on my way back. The moment I've got to my door step, it stopped. Perfect timing as always.
My mother sent me this morning:
За 20 лет своего существования национальная валюта обесценилась на 237 595 925%.
Translation: After 20 years the national currency has lost value by 237 595 925%. That's XXL-hyperinflation... I've told her - it's a daily reminder how lucky I feel that I've managed to get out. She said:
Мы тоже рады за тебя, что ты уехала.....!!!! Но другие люди, в том числе и мы с отцом, жили и живут в этой стране !!! Они несчастливы !!! И мне жалко их, в том числе и себя. !!1
We are also happy that you have left... but other people, including us, live in this country. They are unhappy. I pity them, including myself.
I didn't know what to say back. What is the right thing to say? Can't get in, can't get out, can't say anything openly.. so I went for a run..
Certain things in life will cut you open like a knife. When that happens, you get a glimpse of what’s truly inside you.
I've told Freddy the other day that I admire my mother's survivor skills: you put her in any condition or circumstance or any place and she figures her way out, in her own way, she always finds creative ways to survive and thrive. And she prides herself in that. I always took that quality of hers for granted. Now I admire and respect it.
I ran early and writing this very late... another crazy day.
