6.83 miles (total: 1933.94 miles)
Today was my father's birthday and I dedicate this run to him..
I saw his picture today, back in Belarus, and he looks old. It made me sad seeing him like that. I could hardly recognize my father in that man I saw on the picture. In my memory he is strong, in the military uniform looking sharp, full of energy and humor. He would always say what is on his mind - direct, honest, and mostly kind. When I was very little, he used to secretly give me money (15 cents) to go buy ice-cream ("Don't tell your mother, it will be our secret..", he would say and I loved him for that). He used to drill me on geography in 8th grade (knowing countries, their geo-political strengths, their economies and what they produce was super-important in our family :) ) . How he told me about his chemistry mischiefs - throwing nitrate (stolen from the chemistry lab in high school) into the frozen lake... if you don't know what happens in this case, you should take organic chemistry class. Born in Kazakhstan, left at 19 - he made it all over former Soviet Union and East Germany serving in the military for over 34 years.
During the run, many memories came alive in my mind.. and realization how short human life is. Every day must be made the most of and cherished.
I hope to see him in person and alive sometime soon. And for M&G see him. It would be really good for everyone.
Day 341. A good day. 1st of May is always my favorite!
