7.82 miles (total: 1450.83 miles)
250! 250! 250! it's my day 250 :) :) :)
OMG, it was awesome! An incident happened though on the way back. I decided to take a "shortcut" through the trail in pitch black (I have a headlamp, etc.) and I still tripped on a root of a tree and fell. It was a classic face in the mud in the dark fall. Spectacular fall, if you will. I am thankful that it was not the asphalt, otherwise it would be ugly. The soil was saturated with water that it felt more like falling on a (soft-ish) blanket of mud (it was pouring rain after all) - my gloves, my jacket, my legs and shoes (they are not light grey anymore!) all faced the mud. Luckily, injury-wise just a minor scratch on the knees. The amazing thing is that after the fall, the desire to run went up 10x... maybe that's the automatic reaction to the possibility that the injury may curb your running ability - who knows if I can run tomorrow, but right now I can.. so I did. Finished the run and that was it.
Now that that is behind. Let's come back to the run.
It was good, one of those runs that you forget that you are running... just experiencing the joy of the movement. I thought about different things and at times about nothing at all.. One thing came to mind about running.. runners may be more honest than the rest of the population. I think they are. You can pretend to be smart or more than what you are. You can rent a lifestyle for a week. For a few hours or a few days, you can deceive those around you, and for a while, yourself. But as a runner, you have to face the truth about yourself on a regular basis, and it makes you more honest.
- You can’t pretend to be faster than you are.
- You can’t pretend that you are better prepared than you are.
- You cannot pretend to be a runner, you actually have to run.
So whenever I meet a runner, I know they are not fake. They can't be..
So great to have day 250 behind me - soaking wet, bruised, but super-happy.
