Today while running I've thought when new runners tell that they hate it, I understand. I would argue now that it isn’t the running that they hate, it’s the movement that they haven’t embraced. Running as an activity isn’t inherently good or bad. It can’t really be loved or hated, I don't think. It is a mechanical reality. It is what it is. It's running.
But the movement, the motion, of running can be loved. It can be enticing to the point of almost being addictive. Once you’ve felt it - whatever it is - you want to feel it again. If you’re like most normal people, you’ll chase that feeling. That means running in the cold, rain, heat, night or morning, daily. You’ll run when you shouldn’t and try to run when you can’t [e.g., when we lost the power]
At least that what happened for me. Sometime, somewhere in these 243 days I felt above. In that moment I think I went from being someone who runs to being a runner. It's quite amazing.
