Day 2: Finding My Stride – 5 Miles of Freedom
Today was Day 2 of my triathlon training journey, and it was all about the run. Just me, the road, and 5 glorious miles of movement. After the intensity of yesterday's bike sprints and swim intervals, today’s run felt like a refreshing reset - an “easy run” in name, but one that left my mind and body buzzing with energy. It was not all rozy as I am pretty bad out of shape right now. But I showed up, I ran and I did my thing.

The Rhythm of the Run
As my feet hit the pavement, I found my rhythm. It wasn’t about speed or pushing limits; it was about letting my body move and my mind wander. The beauty of running is its simplicity. No equipment, no distractions - just the sound of my breathing (and a philosophy book on Adler in my ears), the steady thud of my shoes, and the world unfolding around me. The morning air was crisp and every moment felt alive with possibility.
5 Miles of Mental Clarity
Running has a way of clearing the clutter in your mind, and today was no exception. Each mile was an opportunity to reflect on why I started this again. I thought about the previous runs and goals I have been chasing, the feeling of accomplishment, and the version of myself I’m chasing - a better me.
At mile three, I choked a bit (those hills and my knees sometimes disagree). But I did my best.
Lessons from Day 2
Running might seem like the simplest part of triathlon training, but it teaches you so much. It’s about pacing yourself, listening to your body, and enjoying the journey as much as the destination.
Today reminded me that the real power of training isn’t just in pushing through sprints or shaving seconds off your time. It’s in showing up. It’s in lacing up your shoes, stepping out the door, and taking that first step - whether it’s easy or not.
To anyone out there thinking about starting their own journey: the hardest part is showing up. But once you do, the rewards are endless.
Stay tuned as the miles, strokes, and sprints add up. Day 2 is done, but the best (and the worst) is yet to come. But I will keep going, one step at a time. 🏃♂️✨
