6 miles
I literally started running this morning with my eyes closed (I was very sleepy in the AM). I also knew that if I don't go in the morning, it would be impossible until very late at night today.
I've discovered I can actually run with my eyes closed for some distances. I usually wear running sunglasses to protect my eyes from sun, wind, bugs, even debris, and they facilitate in this "eyes wide shut" running thing. In many ways, I know the roads after 120 days with my eyes closed - every bump, every imperfection, every twist... so why not run with eyes closed.
It took about 1.5 miles and the adrenaline started to kick-in and the natural awake started working. Today the muscles didn't hurt as much as yesterday and I actually enjoyed the last 2 miles of the run.
I smiled at the 3 passer-by's at this ungodly hour, and they smiled back. It's always good to see other people smile... I should try to "provoke" smiles more often :)
I intend to make today a good day. Oh why not, right?
120 days of running, baby, make you humble and confident - all at the same time.
