Day 11: Back at It

After a week off in Paris, I’m back in the game! Today was all about shaking off the travel cobwebs and getting back into the rhythm with an endurance run (7 miles) and an endurance swim (1,250m total).

And let me tell you—jumping back in wasn’t easy, but it felt so good. The swim was better than the run.

Endurance Swim: 1,250m of Focus

At 8AM, I headed to the pool for a 1,250-meter endurance swim. The pool was empty, which was perfect. The water was warm, which was wonderful. The first few laps felt sluggish, but as I settled into my stroke, everything started to click. Although, I was still often out of breath - not as easy as I was hoping. But the water eventually washed away the stiffness and fatigue from travel.

Swimming long distances is as much a mental game as it is physical. You have to stay present, focus on your breathing (today it was a bit out of whack), and trust that every lap is going to be better. Today, it was all about finding that rhythm again - and by the end, I felt stronger than when I started. Last 10 laps were definitely better than the first 10 :)

Endurance Run: 7 Miles of Rediscovery

While M was in his math class, I laced up my shoes and hit the pavement, unsure of how my legs would respond after the break. The first couple of miles were a reminder that, yes, fitness waits for no one. I could not wait for my tracker to hit 1 mile.. I thought it would never come.

Paris was amazing, but running in US is still better. I feel that I run better here. It also reminds me that this triathlon dream is still very much alive.

By mile five, my legs were talking, but my mind was louder. I pushed through and finished strong, feeling that post-run satisfaction I missed so much.

Lessons from the Break

Taking a week off wasn’t ideal, but it was out of my control. Sometimes life happens, and that’s okay. The key is getting back at it, with no guilt - just gratitude.

Today reminded me that consistency is key, but flexibility is just as important. One week off won’t derail the journey; it’s how you bounce back that counts.

What’s Next?

I’m feeling re-energized and ready to dive headfirst into the next phase of training. There’s still a long way to go, but today proved that I’m still in the fight, and I’m more motivated than ever.

Let’s keep moving forward - one mile, one lap at a time. 🏃‍♂️🏊‍♂️💪

It’s time to get back to business! 🚀
