Dostoyevski once wrote "Man grows used to everything, the scoundrel!"
Yep! That's true. I would add: "A woman grows used to everything much faster than a man" :)
It is a common belief that women are delicate creatures, they are like "flowers", "eggs" - they may be crushed in a moment of carelessness or hardship. That's a one big fat lie! If I ever believed that I no longer do.
Women are far more resilient and mentally tougher than the opposite gender. I think physically our bodies are far more resilient when faced with strenuous physical activities. Be it running, working, giving childbirth...
Can you imagine if men could give birth? The world would be a very different place, if they did. I remember when M was born, it took me 19 min, and with Grace it was only 4 min. I also worked out until the day they were both born. Freddy told me "Why do women complain that giving birth is difficult? It looks 'easy'." And I remember answering: "I make it look easy!" :)
I don't know why all of a sudden I thought of child birth today, but it is certainly empowering. Sometimes when I am in a room full of men, and if I need some self-encouragement, I tell myself: "None of them squeezed a watermelon out of their bodies. If they did, they would be far more humble and wouldn't complain." It often works and gives me the jolt of energy and boldness I need.
